End of adventure for Thomas Vanbauce et Julien Seurin au FIP Silver Champ Fleuri, beaten 7/5 7/5 by the solid pair Gustavo Nunes / José Solano Marmolejo (seeded No. 4). A balanced match, where the French did not disgrace themselves, but where the difference was decided by a few details in key moments.

A cruel scenario in both sets

The first act was undecided for a long time. Vanbauce and Seurin procured several break balls, but fail to convert them. At 5/5, the 4th seed does not falter and converts one of his rare opportunities to win the set 7/5.

The second set followed the same pattern. The rallies were tight, the French kept up the pace, but once again, Nunes and Solano find the flaw at the best moment. Sharper in the important points, they end the match with the same score.

A frustrating but promising defeat

The statistics show the balance of the match: 36 winning points to 39, 26 unforced errors to 23, an almost identical total which illustrates to what extent the game was decided on details. Vanbauce and Seurin, however, showed great aggression, but lacked success in their opportunities.

Opposite, Solano shone with his consistency and tactical sense, well supported by a Nunes sometimes irregular but capable of decisive blows in hot moments.

Heading for Reunion II to bounce back

Despite the disappointment, the best French pair in the tournament leaves with a positive. Their level of play has improved and improved throughout the tournament. We will see them again next week for the second FIP Silver in Reunion, where they will be once again seeded 5 and will seek to reach a new milestone.

Benjamin Dupouy

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
