They hadn't been seen together in the same colors since the  2024 European Championships. Johan Bergeron  et  Adrien Maigret  will reform a well-known French padel association during the  FIP Silver of Narbonne , disputed from  June 16 to 21.  An appealing interlude on paper, but the question remains: are the automatic reflexes still there to aim for the final four?

Maigret regains his form in French international tournaments

For several months now, Adrien Maigret has been confirming his gradual return to the highest level. Even though he doesn't travel every week to the various tournaments on the circuit, the Parisian is playing in a series of international tournaments in France and showing that he remains a player capable of challenging the best French pairs.

After an early exit at  FIP Bronze from Rivesaltes  face  Bastien Blanqué  et  Yoan Boronad , the Tison / Maigret pair quickly bounced back at  Marnes-la-Coquette The two Frenchmen took their revenge against Blanqué and Boronad before reaching the quarter-finals.

They even came very close to a place in the semi-finals, ultimately losing in three sets to the young Spaniards.  Garcia and Zamora A match during which Adrien Maigret's physique ultimately proved a factor.

Despite this, the level displayed by the former French international remains impressive. Still as dangerous at the net, powerful overhead, and capable of defending for long periods during rallies, Maigret retains this atypical playing style that still troubles many opponents. His penchant for attack and his ability to quickly reach the net contrast sharply with the more composed profile of Johan Bergeron.

Perhaps the strength of this partnership lies precisely in this complementarity. On one side, Maigret's instinct and aggressiveness. On the other, Bergeron's tactical rigor and methodical approach.

Johan Bergeron, a mixed season

The year 2026 had nevertheless begun with many expectations surrounding the new association between  Johan Bergeron  et  Timéo Fonteny. 

The initial results had been encouraging, particularly with successful qualifications at the  P2 of Newgiza In Egypt, the two Frenchmen had even managed to take a set from  Juan Tello  et  Eduardo Alonso  in particularly windy conditions.

But since that impressive run, results have been harder to come by. Bergeron and Fonteny, in particular, were eliminated in the first round of qualifying.  P2 of Asuncion  then from  P1 of Buenos Aires On the FIP circuit, the situation is similar. Despite several solid runs, the French pair seems to be hitting a real glass ceiling. Johan Bergeron and Timéo Fonteny have already been stopped at  three times in the FIP Silver quarter-finals  et  one in FIP Bronze without managing to get over that hurdle towards the final four.

However, Johan Bergeron maintains the same approach. A hard worker recognized on the circuit, the Lyon native continues to believe in his project with Fonteny and remains convinced that the results will eventually follow.

This brief stint in Narbonne with Adrien Maigret could allow him to regain some freshness and confidence before resuming his usual schedule. One thing is certain: their partnership will be one of the French attractions this week in the Aude region.

Currently the third pair registered in the tournament, Bergeron and Maigret are among the  credible candidates for the semi-finals With registration still open, the rankings could change before the tournament begins. But reaching the semi-finals would already be a remarkable achievement for a pair who haven't played together since the 2024 European Championships.
