French women were well represented this week in Portugal , with several pairs engaged in the main draw of the FIP Silver Porto . If Alix Collombon continues his journey with authority, Fiona Ligi et Charlotte Soubrié leave with valuable experience after a tough second round.
Ligi and Soubrié face the very high level
Single pair 100% French of the tournament, Fiona Ligi et Charlotte Soubrié started their tournament perfectly by dominating Catarina santos et Paula Ferran : 6 / 4 6 / 2 . A great introduction before an XXL challenge at second turn .
The French then faced the seeded 1 , made of Jessica castello (world No. 16) and Lorena Rufo (No. 27). A prestigious match… but also a logical clash: defeat 6/1 6/2 against a seasoned pair on the circuit. Despite the score, Ligi and Soubrié leave with experience and benchmarks against the very high international level.
Collombon and Martinez secure their status
Alix Collombon , French No. 1 , continues her tournament alongside the Spanish Araceli Martinez . Classified seeded 2 , they did not tremble for their entry into the lists: win 6/1 6/3 face Foguer / Fernandez .
They then followed up with a more closely contested but well-controlled match against the Portuguese. Clarinha Santos et Patricia Maria Ribeiro : 6 / 0 7 / 6 . If the second set was more disputed, the duo French-Spanish held his rank and qualifies for the quarter-finals .
They will face the winner of the duel between the seed 7 Aida Martinez / Ana Dominguez and the Portuguese pair Claudia Gaspar / Constança Gorito . Match planned in the second rotation at 14:30 on center court .
I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
