differences
Rationalization and simplification of the circuit by eliminating the lower categories (Star, Rise, Promotion) and with an emphasis on the main tournaments (Platinum et Gold). This could reflect a desire to focus efforts on major events, making the tournament hierarchy clearer.
Point structure: stability for main categories
- Major categories like FIP Platinum et FIP Gold keep the same points scales in 2024 and 2025.
- The structure remains the same for winners, finalists, semi-finalists, and other stages up to the qualifying phase.
The FIP Star becomes a FIP Silver
This is simply a change of category name. But no change in the distribution of points.
FIP Rise becomes FIP Bronze
Here too, no change in the distribution of points. Except for the qualifications. In 2025, players who participate in qualifications earn up to 2 points for a victory in the last qualifying round. Good news for players who travel, who play the game and who are assured of not participating in a tournament for nothing.
FIP Promotion disappears
This is the main difference between 2024 and 2025, since the FIP is removing the old first category. The FIP Bronze (former FIP Rise) becomes the first category in the FIP Tour category ladder. We should expect an even greater number of FIP Bronze and Silver in 2025.
The Final FIP does not disappear
Please note that we have not covered the FIP Finals, which will be subject to an evolution in 2025 without disappearing. It is its format that will evolve. We will cover this subject later.
