When for his Beautiful Plan IFJ Star In Mauritius we met Prisca Razafimamonjiy, first Malagasy player, and Fitia Robinson, fourth. The two sportswomen celebrated their first points on the world circuit and shared their journey in the paddle and their ambitions. An interview that highlights the development of this sport in Madagascar.

Can you tell us about your career and the development of padel in Madagascar?
Prisca: The paddle is growing more and more in Madagascar. I started playing a year ago and, quickly, I participated in tournaments organized by the Malagasy Pro Padel Tour. These competitions take place every two weeks, which allows us to progress regularly. I come from tennis, so this transition was a new experience for me, and I loved it!

Fitia: I also come from tennis. I started the paddle in July 2023. I have already participated in several tournaments, including the IPC, where I won with my sister. We also played a team tournament against Reunion, but unfortunately, we lost. That said, these are very enriching experiences.

You are playing together for the first time. How was this first international experience?
Prisca: Yes, it was our first tournament as partners and our first participation in an international tournament. It's incredible to be here, even if we lost. We are very proud to have won our first points on the international circuit, which allows us to become the first Malagasy women to be ranked worldwide.

Fitia: This experience is unique. Seeing players from all over the world, discovering new techniques, it's really enriching. We are very grateful to those who helped us get here.

What are your next steps after this experience at FIP Star?
Prisca: Now that we have had a taste of an international tournament, we hope to participate in other competitions of this type. But for now, we will return to Madagascar to continue to progress and participate in local tournaments.

Fitia: We also hope that there will be some soon international tournaments organized in Madagascar. This would be an excellent opportunity to further develop padel in our country and attract players from the region.

Do you think that international tournaments in Madagascar are possible?
Fitia: Why not! It would be a great initiative, but there is still a lot to organize to make it happen.
