Florian Valsot, current 130th player in the rankings padel French, shares his journey and his impressions on the padel, talks about his ambitions, and presents his club padel recently covered in Nice, V. Indomitus Padel.

His story with padel

“I started in 2018 or 2019 thanks to Michel Laborie at La Gaude. As soon as I started, I was immediately hooked and never let go of the racket. The positive point of padel, is that it offers a second life to tennis players who have failed to reach a high level. However, the negative side, in my opinion, is the lack of prize money in tournaments, which does not sufficiently encourage players to travel regularly across France.

I played tennis and was ranked -2/6. I am also a tennis coach and coach. If I had discovered the padel before tennis, I would undeniably have chosen padel, because I love everything that is volleys and smashes. Over time, we also learn to appreciate defense in the padel. As I started tennis late, I think I would have had more fun at padel. For me, there is no comparison between the two sports.”

Coach and player for the Monegasque federation

“As a player, I stopped playing tournaments about a year and a half ago. I just participated in a few small local competitions with my partner Arnaud Piacentile. We played around ten tournaments, won 8 P500s and a P1000 last year. We also had the chance to participate in the A1 qualifying in Monaco.

Today, I no longer travel to play, except as a coach and player for the Monaco federation.”

The advantage of having a permanent partner

“Whatever anyone says, it's always better to have a partner with whom you can build a real bond over the long term. Personally, I didn't have this opportunity, and I regret it a little. I played with my brother towards the end, but between my professional obligations and my role as a father, I had to stop just as he started to really progress in the game. padel. "

V. Indomitus Padel

“We created with my wife the first club of padel covered in Nice, called V. Indomitus Padel. The “V” honors our 16-year-old son, Virgil, who is disabled, and “Indomitus” means indomitable, which reflects my vision.

The club has two pitches padel and an indoor single, a large fitness room, meeting rooms, a children's playroom, and a restaurant. There are plans to add two additional courts in the next six months.

Being a small structure, we quickly fill up, so this opportunity to expand is welcome. In addition, we had the honor of hosting the Monaco FIP this year. As I am coach of the Monaco federation, our club also serves as a training center for the selection.”

The growth of padel at Monaco

“I would like to pay particular tribute to Cécilia d'Ambrosio-Huet and Philippe Sassier, respectively president and honorary president of the Monegasque Federation of padel. Their dedication and exceptional work contribute greatly to the growth and influence of the federation.”

Working with remarkable talents

“As a coach, I have the chance to work with remarkable talents. I take care of Raluca Sandu, who is in the world top 100 for girls, as well as Keny Valigiani and Tyrone Pottier, two young prodigies in the under-14 and under-12 categories, who are among the three best French of their categories. I am also proud to coach Olivier Romary, the French number one in the over-50s. Their passion and commitment are a daily source of inspiration for me.”
