On the occasion of the upcoming release of the application Focus Padel , interview with its designer, Richard Vendrell , local figure from Perpignan and manager of the club Dog Padel .
PM: Richard, tell us about the genesis of this application. What is it used for?
RV: The initial idea came from a simple observation: as a player, manager and referee, I was tired of the problems related to the levels of play. Too many games with players of disparate levels. Too many difficulties in creating groups. WhatsApp adapted. Too many competitors declaring themselves “level 7” when they were actually “level 4”. A solution was needed to know the true level players. The idea of an application quickly took hold. With passionate partners (Viridiana Popovitch, Christophe Botella, Stéphane Cuny and Matthieu Cordomy), we founded the company Padel Games Data , before working with a team of developers to design precise specifications. Focus Padel is the fruit of long months of work.
PM: Concretely, how does Focus work? Padel ?
RV: It's very simple. A starting level is assigned to you or given to you. You enter your match results. A Elo algorithm then takes care of calculating the evolution of your level by taking into account: your partner, your opponents, the score and the importance of the match. Your ranking evolves in a precise way , to the nearest hundredth. It is addictive and motivating: after a good match, going from 5,38 to 5,57 becomes a real satisfaction.

PM: And do these results provide access to other information?
RV: Exactly! With the formula Standards , you can: view your statistics , consult the player cards members: victories, defeats, last matches, FFT ranking, and even their contact details (for those who authorize it).
PM: Can you tell us more about the interface?
RV: The interface is intuitive: the home page displays your main statistics. The General classification groups together all the players in the app, with filters by level , name , gender , club ou department . Smooth navigation between tabs allows you to discover all the features. Available from 20 January , Focus Padel is shaping up to be an essential tool for players of all levels.
PM: Does the application also offer tools for clubs?
RV: Absolutely. Focus Padel offers a complete module of tournament management for JAPS and clubs , with: player registration, creation of groups and tables, entry of results, which directly impact the players' levels, archiving of games and tournament results (round by round). Each club also has a dedicated sheet with contact details, website, and booking link. The app becomes a real padel secretary , centralizing everything you need.
PM: Is it free?
RV: Yes and no. The formula Free is limited: access to your personal statistics, but not to player profiles or search tools. The formula Standards in €5,99 per month without commitment , gives access to all features. For the JAPS et clubs , the formula Tournament costs 9,99 € per month , allowing the organization of an unlimited number of competitions. Good news: the formulas Standards et Tournament are free during the first 3 months following the creation of the account.
PM: Who is Focus for? Padel ?
RV: To all players, everywhere in France! The application automatically adapts to your sector based on the address provided when you registered. We also rely on the partnerships with clubs to quickly expand the community. Interested clubs and players can contact us at padelfocusdata@gmail.com or visit www.focus-padel.fr .
Available from 20 January , the application Focus Padel promises to revolutionize the player and club experience, simplifying interactions and making the competition even more engaging. A tool to discover urgently!
