It was a little surprise at the Pala Angers Open with the victory of the 3rd seed of the tournament, Étienne Brouillard / Alexandre Boilevin, who managed to overcome the 1st seed, favorite of the tournament, Mathieu Armagnac / Morgan Mannarino.
The outsiders managed to win in 3 sets: 6/4 3/6 6/2 after an hour and a half of match.
We expected it, and the final kept all its promises with a high-level clash. Brouillard and Boilevin were on fire this afternoon, performing a perfect first set, marked by a lot of aggression and realism. After breaking at the best moment, in the famous 7th game, the number 3 seed won this set 6/4.
Note that in the first set, the points were very short... and in this game, it was Étienne Brouillard and Alexandre Boilevin who managed to be more consistent and concluded the first set in barely 25 minutes.
In the second set, the points were a little longer. On their momentum, Boilevin and Brouillard broke from the start. We saw them on track to continue this dynamic, but that was without counting on the strong return of TDS 1, Mannarino and Armagnac. The latter managed to reverse the situation by gradually increasing their level of play, to finally win 6/3.
The third set will be the longest. In the final set, a mano a mano began between the two teams. Despite some tough games, no one was able to get away until 2/2. It was at that moment that the northern pair, carried by a monstrous Alexandre Boilevin, made the difference. In almost 40 minutes, the Brouillard / Boilevin pair managed to win this final round with a score of 6/2.
