Four French players competed this Thursday at the FIP Silver tournament in Alcalá de Guadaíra. While Timéo Fonteny, Yoan Boronad, and Arthur Hugounenq saw their runs end in the round of 16, Léa Godallier made a perfect start to her campaign alongside Argentina's Daiara Valenzuela.

Fonteny and Boronad are close to their revenge

Facing the No. 4 seeds,  Marcos Gonzalez Blanco and Martin Abud Timéo Fonteny and Yoan Boronad have once again shown that they have the level to compete with higher-ranked pairs.

After a hard-fought first set that saw them lose 7-6, the two French players managed to convert their opportunities in the second set, winning it 7-5. This was an encouraging response after several matches where they had come very close to turning the tide.

But their efforts eventually took their toll. Lacking physical freshness, Fonteny and Boronad succumbed in the decisive set, which was largely dominated by their opponents (6/1), but they still left the tournament with reasons to be satisfied.

On his social media, Yoan Boronad focused on the positive:

"The level of play is there, all that's left is to seize the opportunities."

The two Frenchmen will now move on to the qualifying rounds of the  Premier Padel P1 of Malaga .

Hugounenq faces the number 1 seed

Arthur Hugounenq was not spared by the draw. Paired with the Spaniard  Jose Manuel Ortiz The Frenchman faced the number 1 seed, which consisted of  david gala  et  Enzo jensen .

After a difficult first set (6-1), the French-Spanish pair showed a much better performance in the second set. Despite this comeback, Gala and Jensen maintained control of the match to win 6-4 and advance to the quarterfinals.

Godallier continues the adventure

The only French victory of the day came from  Léa Godallier Associated with Argentina  Daiara Valenzuela The Frenchwoman, seeded number 2 in the tournament, gave the Spanish players no chance.  Lorena Alonso de Lera  et  Lucia Dionisio Laureano , with a clear victory in two sets (6/1 6/2).

Having qualified for the quarter-finals, Godallier and Valenzuela will now face  Rebecca Lopez Lopez  (88e) and  Blanca Arriola  (102nd), No. 7 seed, with a place in the final four at stake.
