At the end of this season, Francisco Guerrero et son partenaire Jairus Baptist are the center of attention, delivering performance after performance. Often outsiders In the tournaments, the Spanish have created several surprises, notably against Lebron / Di Nenno in Kuwait P1.
However, this meteoric rise also allows both players to gain visibility, to climb the places ranking and to treat themselves to some nice checks at the end of the tournaments, allowing them to finance their season.
Indeed, Fran Guerrero recently spoke to our colleagues at I reveal, on the difficulties of progressing on the circuit Premier Padel for gamers.
De World Padel Tour à Premier Padel : a globalized circuit
The change of circuit had a real impact for the Spanish players, especially from a financial point of view. World Padel Tour was mainly located in Spain, allowing Spanish players (and even French and Italian ones) to travel at lower cost.
Today, Premier Padel A decides to internationalize padel tournaments. With such a choice, the Spaniards experienced real upheavals "We players were a little better off, the trips were generally shorter… but now at Premier Padel The tournaments are held on tours like the South American one, the Middle East one… This has been the main change. The economic costs are greater because in this case we have to pay for the flights ourselves.", Fran Guerrero confessed to Revelo.
He adds : "Last year I estimated I spent around €40 to complete the season, including travel to tournaments, living away from home".
Sponsors, a valuable help to achieve this
Today, sponsors play a key role in the career of padel players. Many help to finance travel, thus reducing costs for professional players. If you don't have sponsors, for me it's impossible unless you have a family that has money. Or you participate in tournaments and you spend a lot of rounds.", says Fran Guerrero. Family, which can be very important for some players: "In my case, without Head, who sponsors me, I would lose money doing my job and my parents would have to help me financially, that's for sure."
However, it is Frame Cassetta qui, at the microphone of Padel Magazine, admitted that it was difficult to be Spanish or Argentinian for sponsors: “For sponsorship, it is better to be among the best Italian, French or Swiss players for example, rather than Spanish or Argentinian. I'm lucky to be Italian."
So, inevitably, for the Spanish and Argentinian players beyond the top 30, this new circuit has been a real blow. For many, the cost of living for a padel player has drastically increased for everyone.
A complicated situation for players, with conclusions to be drawn for the circuits, in particular Premier Padel, a year after becoming the only circuit in the world of padel.
It was her brother who one day told her to accompany him to a padel court, since then, Gwenaëlle has never left the court. Except when it comes to going to watch the retransmission of Padel Magazine, World Padel Tour… or Premier Padel…or the French Championships. In short, she is a fan of this sport.
