It’s a new start in every sense of the word for Lucia Sainz. In 2021, the Barcelonan (36 years old) will be associated with Bea González and will be supported by a new trainer: Gaby Reca, a reference of padel that we no longer present.

Same HQ for 2021

Coached until now by Rodri Ovide, the world number 1 at Race 2020 does not change training center, however, since it remains a member of the Brunete SportClub, one of the best centers in Spain. Lucía Sainz joins the “Maestro” team to which the Fede Chingotto-Juan Tello pair is also loyal, number 9 in the 2020 Race and 10th in the ranking.

“I present to you the one who will be my new coach, Gaby Reca, wrote Lucía Sainz on her Instagram account. I am happy to have by my side a coach who has been a legendary player, a crazy talent with whom I am sure to learn a lot. I am ready to do everything to assimilate everything ”.

New start

Associated with Gemma Triay for 5 years, Lucía Sainz was somewhat blamed when the Menorcan announced to her that she was joining Alejandra Salazar in 2021. This did not prevent them from realizing an exceptional year : “The decision to separate was made by Gemma, it's not my decision. She told me that before the tournament in Alicante, so we played four tournaments as a No.1, knowing we weren't going to continue together. Çhas been very hard. We both wanted to reach the No.1 rank, but for me it was difficult to play knowing that my teammate was going to leave me. I had to get the best out of myself. This situation has made us stronger ”.

With this status, she approaches this new season with confidence and with a crack of barely 19, 8th in the 2020 Race, to whom the future belongs: “What is striking is that she is only 19 years old and she is already at the top. Despite her youth, she is a player who has been in the top four pairs and it's amazing. We will try to adapt quickly to get the most out of our pair. She is very fast, active and it can make our game very dynamic. It will also bring joy. She is a player who always has a smile, and this is very important in the padel. "

Without a doubt, the contribution of Gaby Reca to develop the automatisms of the game and create a real bond between a very experienced player and a young student with unlimited potential will be a huge added value and a great challenge for the Argentinian legend. !
