Without engaging in a prolonged controversy, he explained that he had simply asked the referee not to intervene further, preferring to quickly put an end to the incident.

"I didn't exchange a single word with Juan. I only told the referee not to talk to me. Frankly, it was quite an awkward moment," he said at a press conference.

Despite this widely discussed gesture, Galán sought to calm the situation. He reiterated his respect for his former teammate and stated that he did not wish to fuel a controversy that could damage the image of padel. According to him, it is better to put this episode behind them rather than give it further importance.

Tensions rose in the final games of the match, particularly after a heated exchange where a ball made contact  Federico Chingotto  to the face. In an already tense atmosphere, relations between the two Spaniards became even more strained before the handshake incident.
