La 5th pair in the world, composed of Spanish Javi Garrido and Argentinian Martín Di Nenno, struggles to achieve results and raises questions about the continuation of their collaboration.
Out in the round of 16 of Santiago P1, the seeded players Volume 5 of the tournament lost in their second match against the Spanish Victor Ruiz (37ᵉ) / Francisco Manuel Gil (52nd). A pair which nevertheless has no reference result in 2025, and of which only Ruiz reached a quarter-final in Premier Padel in 2024. A defeat in three sets 4/6 6/2 4/6 en 1h49 game for numbers 8 (Di Nenno) and 12 (Garrido) global.
A complicated start to the season
Team management is also hectic. Garrido recently announced (March 6), after just one tournament in 2025, the end of his collaboration with his trainer Juani Mieres, who supervised the pair at Riyadh. A few days later, he made official the arrival of a new coach, Rodrigo Ovide.
The results of this start to the season are mixed:
- Quarter-final in Riyadh P1, with a defeat against Stupa / Lebron (TS3) 6 / 2 7 / 5.
- Quarter-final at Miami P1, beaten hard by the world number 2 Galán / Chingotto 6 / 1 6 / 2 en 1h17 game.
- Elimination in the round of 16 in Santiago
- No win against a pair of the top 10 since the start of the season.

Next tournament: the Qatar Major
Collaboration between By Nenno / Garrido is just getting started with their new coach Rodrigo Ovide, and adjustments will be necessary. Garrido and Di Nenno have played together before, and 5 years later they have to find the right balance again. Their next big test will be the Qatar Major, next stop on the circuit Premier Padel, where they will have to perform to avoid sinking into a negative spiral and maintain their status as the world's 5th pair.
