Gemma Triay et Lucia Sainz yesterday won their first title on the World Padel Tour 2020, after a big match against Marrero / Josemaria.

Lucía Sainz and Gemma Triay, two veterans of the padel women's world by their seniority on the professional circuit, had trouble in recent weeks, to have visibility. Despite a final in Madrid, their classification and perhaps a bad luck meant that they were relatively little seen on the screens. However always present in quarters, they were often a little “zapped” by the organization.

In Sardinia, in the open, Gemma and Lucia set the record straight. Yet not spoiled by the draw, they managed to win their second coronation of 2020, at the end of a high-level tournament during which they will have beat the top three world pairs. After having mastered their first two laps, respecting the order of the classification, the moment came when it was necessary to surpass oneself.

1/4 finals against numbers 2, Alejandra Salazar and Ariana Sánchez. A match started with a bang to inflict a clean 6/3 and without smudges. The second set will be more hooked and will fall on the side of the favorites 6/3. Finally, and this is where the mental click must have been made, the third set will be very stuck and will end with a single break at the end of the match to end with a 7/5.

Reconnect with television. In the semi-finals, for sure, they will have visibility, and that's where you have to do well. A young pair, not easy to manage because it plays very well, Marta Ortega and Bea González. Too strong. Gemma and Lucía left no chance for the young players and inflicted a 6/3 6/3 already thinking about the final which will take place in the afternoon. Less time on the track means more time to recover and approach the final in good physical freshness.

An extraordinary final. Almost 3 hours of match. The first set was a demonstration. A start to the match identical to all other matches in the tournament. Belly down, we don't give our opponents a chance and we win 6/0 against Marta Marrero and Paula Josemaría, number 1. The second set could have been the end of the match. Tie-break lost 10/8. The third set was played to the mind and it should be noted that the work carried out by Sainz / Triay has borne fruit. 3 match points against them in the tie-break of the third set before winning 9/7. A delight.

Sainz / Triay is now the fifth pair to win a girls' title! The next tournament will take place on their land, Ménorque. Gemma and Lucía will want to go get a second coronation and thus join Sanchez / Salazar, but their opponents will surely not hear it that way. The competition in full swing with girls, To our greatest delight !
