The second women's semi-final of the  Premier Padel Gijon P2  opposed the  world number 1 Gemma Triay and Delfi Brea  in pairs  Tamara Icardo / Claudia Jensen , seeded 5. After a match that was competitive in terms of content, but dominated in the key moments,  Triay and Brea won 6-2, 6-2 in 1 hour 39 minutes  to reach the final.

 The first set was closer than the score suggests. 

The score of the first set may seem harsh, but the match was much more balanced. The rallies were long and the games very close, with many deuces.

In this type of scenario,  The world's number ones are letting their experience speak for itself. More effective on the important points, they gradually gain the upper hand.

 Delfi Brea is proving particularly dangerous with her backhand , regularly putting pressure on the opposing pair. Despite a very good resistance from Icardo and Jensen, the latter seeming slightly hampered under her foot without it really affecting her level, Triay and Brea finally made the difference to win the set  6/2 .

 The difference in key moments 

The second set followed a similar pattern. The rallies remained close and  Icardo and Jensen produce a very good padel game. , but they lack effectiveness in decisive moments.

Statistics perfectly illustrate this difference:

  •  8 break points earned by Icardo/Jensen… none converted 
  •  3 break points for Triay/Brea… 2 converted 

This efficiency in the crucial moments allows the world number ones to maintain control of the match and close out the encounter.  6/2 .

 Another final for the number 1s 

With this victory,  Triay and Brea qualify for another final confirming their incredible consistency. For several months, the pair have dominated the circuit and reached a string of finals, just like in the previous season.

Before this semi-final, the statistics already confirmed their dominance against Icardo/Jensen:  Five matches, five victories  for the world's number 1.

 A rematch final against Sánchez / Ustero 

Finally,  Triay and Brea will reunite with Ariana Sánchez and Andrea Ustero , for a duel that promises to be explosive.

Two weeks ago at  Riyadh These are precisely  Sánchez and Ustero who had gained the upper hand , depriving the world's number 1 players of the title.

The final of  Gijon P2  will therefore offer  a direct revenge , with a trophy at stake for two of the most in-form pairs at the moment.
