Gilles Moretton, President of the French Tennis Federation and Pierre Doumayrou, Secretary General, were received this morning by Mr. Jean-Michel Blanquer, Minister of National Education, Youth and Sports, with Mrs. Roxana Maracineanu, Minister Delegate to sports.

At the end of this meeting, Gilles Moretton would like to warmly thank Jean-Michel Blanquer and Roxana Maracineanu for their availability, just a few days after his election as President of the FFT, and for the quality of their listening.

Gilles Moretton and Pierre Doumayrou spoke of the conditions under which the practice of tennis in covered establishments could resume as quickly as possible, given the characteristics of this sporting discipline which by nature allows strict compliance with the rules of physical distancing. Tennis is in fact neither a contact sport nor a team sport and it is played on a 600m² ground. They pleaded with ministers for a quick decision.

Likewise, the conditions of organization of the Roland-Garros tournament, and in particular the reception of the public next spring, were mentioned. They must be adapted and proportionate to the specificities of the Roland-Garros stadium, which covers 12 hectares. The President of the French Tennis Federation called for the establishment in the next few days of an ad hoc working group with all the State services concerned to find the most appropriate solutions.

Like the cultural players and decision-makers who are preparing three test concerts in the presence of the public, in Paris and Marseille, in the coming weeks, the FFT intends to be a source of inventive and responsible proposals for tennis and its associated disciplines.

This meeting thus made it possible to discuss important issues which will call for very close collaboration between the FFT and the State services.
