What a day ! We had the right during this first edition of the Padelpro Cup 2018 to completely crazy matches for women, but especially for men. Victory for Jessica Ginier / Léa Godallier and Maxime Moreau / Pablo Acevedo.
Ginier / Godallier: Too strong
The Ginier / Godallier pair were far too strong during this first edition of the Padelpro Cup to be able to be worried. Even if in the semi-final, facing the pair Clergue / Casanova, she left a set on the way, she knew how to pull herself together and punish the former French padel champions, Laura Clergue and Audrey Casanova (6/2 4/6 6/0)
In the final, Mélissa Martin and Géraldine Soreil could do nothing. They have been beaten in all compartments of the game. Both more regular and more aggressive in the game, Jessica and Lea have achieved a perfect final. (6 / 1 6 / 1)
Lea Godallier who was perfect right on the tournament, will find her partner Marianne Vandaele this weekend for the Lyon Open at TCM5. A big tournament where all the favorites will be present except Laura Clergue who has returned to Madrid.
Jessica Ginier will be alongside Alix Collombon in Lyon. "The die is cast" we were told. They are undeniably the big favorites for the French padel championships as they are currently dominating the French circuit. We don't see which pair could shake them up for the moment. Will the Lyon Open prove us wrong? As for the suspense, we hope so a little.
Moreau / Acevedo: Phenomenal!
Warriors! These are the first words that come to mind when we return to this phenomenal match delivered by the 4 protagonists of this final. Maxime Moreau / Pablo Acevedo and Robin Haziza / Jérémy Scatena delivered a beautiful finale. Probably one of the most beautiful games of this season.
We had it all: play, tension, superb weather, a very good competition and a crowd... In short, all sports fans could only appreciate this duel between the Franco-Mexican pair and the pair who are several times French padel champions.
But in reality, from the quarters, we had the right to magnificent confrontations with especially that between the pair of the moment, the Parisian pair Tison / Maigret who will bow to the pair Scatena / Haziza. This match gave the LA in this tournament with notably the remontada of the Southerners in the first set by winning 9 consecutive games while they were led against the Parisians 5 / 0 ... That is to say the madness.
We could talk about this superb match delivered in the quarter-finals by Justin Lopes and Jérémy Ritz against the winners of the tournament (3 / 6 6 / 3 6 / 2).
Finally, in the final, after 2 match balls saved in the second set, the Franco-Mexican pair eventually get through Haziza / Scatena, but at what price!
Congratulations again to the players for their performances which make us want to play padel so much.
