Le Global Padel Report is a valuable source for analyzing the economic market of paddle, as well as our way of consuming and perceiving this sport. Among the elements studied, the padel rackets represent one of the most dynamic economic markets in the world.
According to Carlota Palam, two main observations can be drawn from this report.
First, the Global Padel Report estimates that more than 4,5 million rackets were sold in 2023, with an average price of 130 € ($143).
The most popular option is the intermediate snowshoes, who have a round shape, are usually balanced, and have an exterior in fiberglass.
What is interesting to understand here is that even if the carbon has the wind in its sails, this does not prevent a majority of players from turning to fiberglass rackets, often easier to play and intended for intermediate players… but not only that. More advanced players also appreciate this type of racket, which is both more affordable and easier to handle.
Then in 2021 - 2022, the market for snowshoes had a massive boom, with demand outstripping supply, prompting manufacturers to raise prices.
We remember the many shortages that the players were facing. Brands were often unable to cope with it. The reason was simple: no one had anticipated the incredible padel boom post-COVID world.
However, in 2023, demand has dropped significantly, creating a overabundance. Many brands then reduced their prices.
We ended up with originals which could not find a buyer. Many boutiques et sites found themselves at the end of the year with a considerable stock of unsold snowshoes. This has led to a trend towards massive promotions to liquidate old models.
En 2024, the market seems to have gone perfectly balanced, offering a more stable situation compared to the excesses of previous years.
