The bar was set a little too high in the final of the  FIP Silver Dubai  for  Léa Godallier and Giorgia Marchetti (TS5) , beaten by the  seeded 3 Teresa Navarro Lopez-Barajas (58th) / Virginia Riera (35th)  on the score of  6 / 2 6 / 3 .

A match where the Franco-Italian pair never really managed to impose their rhythm.

Too many inaccuracies

Godallier and Marchetti concede  a double break in each set hampered by too many mistakes, especially on the return.

In the second set, hope was reborn with an early break to lead 3-0, but the Spanish and Argentinian reaction was immediate: break back, then six games in a row to go for the title.

On the other side, Navarro and Riera delivered a very clean match, with few mistakes and excellent management of important points.

A benchmark tournament nonetheless.

Despite this defeat, the week remains very positive for the French and Italian players.

They sign, in particular:

  • another  A landmark victory in the quarter-finals  against the  TS4 Merino / Manquillo , two players from  Top 50 worldwide  ( 6 / 3 7 / 5 )
  • another  controlled semi-final  face  Garcia / Lopez (TS6)  ( 6 / 2 6 / 1 )

Parties  seeded 5 They reached the final without ever losing a set before this last match.

45 FIP points and a momentum launched

This runner-up position earns them  45 FIP points  and confirms their very good start to the season after their round of 16 appearance at the  Riyadh P1  upon exiting the qualifying rounds.

The momentum is clearly positive.
Next meeting for Godallier and Marchetti: the  Gijón P2 qualifying in two weeks with the aim of continuing on this path.

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
