Bordeaux's first women's semi-final Premier Padel P2 offered its share of surprises.  Claudia Fernández  et  Bea González , seeded 3 and ultra favorites of the match, fell against an inspired and conquering pair:  Carmen Goenaga  et  Bea Caldera , who will play their first final together on the circuit.

The match started timidly for the favorites, with a few  unforced errors  González and Fernández. Opposite, Caldera and Goenaga quickly got into their match, well helped by a radiant Beatriz Caldera. The Spanish player  defends every ball  with intensity and is very aggressive on smashes.  4/3 , the pair surprised everyone by signing a decisive break, before concluding the set  6/3  thanks to their tactical solidity.

The second set is one-sided.  Goenaga and Caldera chain six consecutive games , flying away to  3/0  double break. Opposite,  Claudia Fernandez appears physically diminished The young player called on the physiotherapist several times during the changeovers, visibly injured in the foot. This was reflected in her game: the fouls were piling up and the effort to keep up became more difficult.

Facing a team  in full success , the world number 3 never manage to get back into the game. Goenaga and Caldera, however, remain on a  great consistency , without any empty passage, and conclude the set  6/2  by validating a deserved victory.

This semi-final marks a turning point. Until then,  Fernandez and Gonzalez had won their four direct confrontations  with the opposing pair this season. But this time,  the dynamic is reversed .  Carmen Goenaga , very precocious, long considered a nugget in the making, finally confirms its potential at the highest level. It is also a  first final in Premier Padel for Caldera , which shows Bordeaux a real maturity in the game.

Tomorrow,  an open final  awaits them. The world No. 1s have been eliminated, the No. 2s (Brea/Triay) have withdrawn, and now the No. 3s are down.  Goenaga and Caldera  will face either  Araujo / Ustero i.e  Alonso / Jensen . In any case, one thing is certain: we will be entitled to  an unprecedented final  on the female side.
