Since yesterday evening and the defeat of Alix Collombon and her Spanish partner Araceli Martinez, There are no more French people in the main men's and women's tables . What conclusions can we draw from this Greenweez Paris Master for the French? A quick look at the results of the French this year.

Alix, Johan, Bastien and Thomas: reasons to be satisfied
In women, we retain the Great performance by the French number 1 . Certainly, the defeat in the 1/8e by Alix Collombon and Araceli Martinez yesterday against the TS2 of the tournament was heavy (2/6 0/6 against Triay / Fernandez), but this should in no way make us forget the very good performance in the previous round against the Italian Carolina Orsi and the Spanish Nuria Rodriguez 6/4 6/3. In a tough match and against a pair ranked higher than her, Collombon / Martinez knew how to find the balance between patience and power, all while showing great mental strength.
On the men's side, it is necessary to mention the good performance by Thomas Leygue . Associated with his Argentinian partner Ignacio Piotto Albornoz, The French number 1 made it to the last 16, only losing to TS15, composed of Juan Lu Esbri and Francisco Manuel Gil (6/7 2/6).
We must also congratulate the career of Johan Bergeron and Bastien Blanqué (WC), who for their part lost in the round of 16 against TS12 (Lucho Capra / Maxi Sanchez), not without having passed a very convincing first round against Jose David Sanchez and Diego Gil (4/6 6/2 7/5).
A little tour and then they leave
Associated with the Belgian Clément Geens, Dylan Guichard almost worried Alvaro Cepero and Miguel Benitez for good. After having obtained a set point in the tie-break of the first set, the Geens / Guichard pair was finally defeated… but hopes are there .

A little tour also for Max Joris and Thomas Vanbauce . Facing an unplayable Sager/Oria pair, they were unfortunately unable to establish a balance of power. A resounding defeat 6/2 6/1.
In the women's category, still in the main draw, Lucile Pothier and Charlotte Soubrié suffered the pace imposed by Alix Collombon and Araceli Martinez. In this almost 100% French-French duel, Pothier / Soubrié gave up 6/1 6/4, not without a good resistance in the second set .
Some regrets…
Associated with its Italian partner Giorgia Marchetti, Léa Godallier didn't go far to reach the 8th finals… The 2024 French champion finally gave up after leading by a set against the TS15 of the tournament (Carla Mesa / Sara Ruiz). There is reason to have some regrets here., especially since the entry into the competition of Godallier / Marchetti had been promising.
Regrets and disappointment also on the side of Carla Touly and Jessica Ginier . Against Talavan / Bidahoria, Carla gets injured (the player suffers from lumbago) and unfortunately has to give up at the start of the second set. Too bad, because it was a great opportunity to gain a little more experience.

In the qualifying phase, we expected a little more from our French. After winning the fratricidal duel against Yoan Boronad and Timeo Fonteny , Julien Seurin and Maxime Moreau do not materialize. Defeat 7/5 7/5 against the Spaniard Toni Bueno and the Portuguese Antonio Luque. Too bad because the French had made the difference at the start of each set!
Disappointment also for Julien Maigret and Jérôme Inzerillo . This duo had made people dream during the 2023 edition but failed to follow in their footsteps. The French fell to the 100% Spanish pair Fuster / Icardo.
Also defeated in qualifying Camille Sireix and Louise Bahurel. Clearly beaten by Martina Calvo Santamaria and Sara Pujals Perez, they nonetheless have high-level experience.
Not a day goes by without a line… of padel court! For a few years now, Frédéric has decided to devote himself to his lifelong passion: the little yellow ball and its merciless world. Addict, did you say addict?

When the main title of the article is entitled “A positive assessment for the French” while our French number 1
is eliminated by a stinging 6/2 6/0 (taking a bubble in an international tournament…) and that our French number 1 is eliminated in the 16th finals, this is not at all positive. On the contrary, these results demonstrate the weakness of our French padel despite the help of foreigners who play alongside them. This judgment is confirmed by the subtitles “A little tour and then they leave”, “A few regrets…”.
Our French padel must completely revise its copy if it wants to be less ridiculous next year. We have enough valuable players in France to improve all that.
