This is a huge disappointment for Léa Godallier et Giorgia Marchetti who, after winning the first set, ended up giving in to the 15th seed of the Greenweez Paris Major, Sara Soto Ruiz and Carla Mesa.

The defeat is all the more cruel because there was a lot of hope for Philippe Chatrier. The public believed in the “exploit” of the Frenchwoman and her partner… Finally, the score is clear: 6/4 0/6 3/6.

The first set was a good omen for the Franco-Italian pair, quickly leading the score and having the double-break. However, from the end of this first set, we felt that the Ruiz / Mesa pair was finding its marks on the track, returning from 5/1 to 5/4… In this final game, they had a lot of opportunities to break out, but some waste in their game allowed Léa and her partner to conclude the first set, not without difficulty.

The second and third rounds were a completely different game. A pain in the right shoulder seemed to bother the Italian player. who, being aggressive by nature, was no longer able to really smash as she wanted. This was felt in the tactics put in place by the duo: Giorgia, who covered a lot behind Léa, stopped doing so. In the end, the Franco-Italian pair became very frustrated, encountering many difficulties in their game.

At the end of the third act, there was still a burst of pride from Léa Godallier and Giorgia Marchetti. After being led 4/1, The Franco-Italian pair returned to 4/3, even serving to get back to 4/4. Unfortunately, this was not enough for the Frenchwoman and the Italian who ended up losing 6/3 in the last set.
