The evening could not have ended better in this first day of the main draw of the Greenweez Paris Major. In this French Day, Bastien Blanqué et Johan Bergeron were the last French representatives to enter the track, at a very late hour...
Against Diego Gil and Joseda Sanchez, there was almost a chance for the “BB” who were only playing their second match together since their return to association.
A break away
After a regrettable first set, where Bastien Blanqué and Johan Bergeron were the first to have break opportunities, they were the first, and only, to have conceded their commitment. Diego Gil and Joseda Sanchez took off, not without difficulty, facing the French.
Logically, the Spanish pair continued to maintain their lead. True metronomes and precision aces, they did not tremble in the face of the quality of play of Johan and Bastien, far from being unworthy…
First set: 6/4.
The Cock Crow
From the start of the second set, Johan Bergeron and Bastien Blanqué were not far from giving in. Once again, they had to defend several break points and therefore avoid falling behind.
However, the awakening came in the second game, when the French pair also offered themselves break points. This time, Bastien and Johan seized their chance perfectly. to treat yourself to a valuable game, which they kept thanks to very solid engagement games. A final break at the end of the set gave them the second set… and the right to dream again.
Second set: 6/2.
The “BB” are in shape
The trend became even more clear at the start of the deciding set, where the French knew how to push where it hurt. On Diego Gil and Joseda Sanchez's bench, the tension rose a notch and solutions were sought to stop the tricolor machine.
Supported by a crowd still present despite the Parisian cold, Bastien Blanqué and Johan Bergeron maintained the gap. The feat was not far away when Lyonnais Johan Bergeron served for the match. However, it was necessary to be wary of the return of the Gil / Sanchez pair, far from being defeated in this game which, on the fourth break opportunity in the game… came back to 5/4, service to follow.
The French have obtained a match ball at 5/4, without managing to convert it. However, far from demoralizing the Frenchies, who then won their service game to lead 6/5… The following game, Bastien Blanqué and Johan Bergeron had three new match balls, the second was the right one and direction the 16th finals for the “BB”. For Bastien as for Johan, it is again a second round, Johan having reached this stage of the competition in 2022 with a certain Thomas Leygue, also qualified for the second round, and Bastien with Adrien Maigret.

It was her brother who one day told her to accompany him to a padel court, since then, Gwenaëlle has never left the court. Except when it comes to going to watch the retransmission of Padel Magazine, World Padel Tour… or Premier Padel…or the French Championships. In short, she is a fan of this sport.
