First day of these  final stages of the 2025 European Padel Championships , and it must be said: for the moment, the competition is not attracting crowds.

The  significant level differences  are felt between the main nations and the others. But among all these confrontations, one meeting particularly attracted attention - as announced by Padel Magazine :  Portugal vs Sweden  in Group A for the men, a decisive duel for a place in the semi-finals.

 Advantage to Portugal on paper , and final victory… narrowly! The Deus brothers nevertheless lost the  game 2  against Släryd / Axelsson in three sets (7/6 4/6 6/3). It took a big fight of  Luque / Araujo , victorious on the wire against the Swedish pair Appelgren / Rutgersson (4/6 6/3 6/4), to give victory to their team.

Portugal has therefore made itself  a beautiful fright , while the  Sweden  came close to creating  the surprise of this first day  in La Línea de la Concepción (Cádiz).

Otherwise, things went smoothly. The competition took place.  without major problems , but we still notice  too great differences in level between nations .
And when you add to that the fact that  Spanish stars do not participate , even though the tournament is taking place… in Spain, we understand better why  the atmosphere remains quite calm  around this Euro 2025.

But don't panic, it should fall into place quietly, especially with a few matches including France against the Netherlands in the men's competition which could be a great match this Wednesday and then we will finally have the famous France vs Italy confrontation on Thursday for a small group final.
