The French representatives experienced similar fortunes when they entered the Portuguese tournament, the FIP Platinum Paredes, with two victories achieved after three-set battles.

Guichard and Geens avoid the trap

The Franco-Belgian pair  Dylan Guichard / Clement Geens  had to work hard to get through the first round. Facing the Portuguese  Pedro Araujo / Pedro Graça The two players started the match perfectly by winning the first set 6/1. But their opponents reacted in the second set, leveling the score at one set apiece with a 6/3 victory.

In a more closely contested third set, Guichard and Geens finally made the difference to win.  6/1 3/6 6/4  and secure their place in the round of 16.

In the next round, the challenge will be of a completely different magnitude against the 5th seed.  Jairo Bautista / Iñigo Jofre The Franco-Belgian pair will approach this match as underdogs and will have to raise their level of play to hope to create an upset.

Collombon and Sharifova turn the tables

In the women's race, the second seed  Alix Collombon / Ksenia Sharifova  also came very close to an early elimination. Facing the Spanish  Natalia Morinilla / Maria Teresa Morinigo The French and Russian women had to draw on their resources.

After losing the first set (4/6), they rallied to win a hard-fought second set in a tie-break before finally taking control in the third set to secure the victory.  4/6 7/6 6/3 .

In the round of 16, Collombon and Sharifova will face the pair  Camila Ramme / Brittany Dubins On paper, the 7th seed will start with the favorites against the Mexican-British duo and will try to confirm its status to continue its journey in Portugal.
