Gustavo Pratto , coach of Arturo Coello , shared his vision of elite sport during an interview with El4Set For someone who has been with the world number one for several years, talent is obviously valuable, but it never replaces hard work. He also emphasizes another factor he considers equally crucial: the competitive spirit.
"I believe above all in work."
Pratto leaves no doubt about what, according to him, constitutes the basis of success.
"I strongly believe in work. I think work is fundamental, and that's what I dedicate my life to: working."
The coach explains that when he evaluates a player, it is not his talent that first captures his attention, but his daily commitment.
"If I have to judge a player, I'm going to judge him on his work ethic."
However, he acknowledges that some players possess extraordinary natural qualities.

Talent, a gift impossible to teach
According to Pratto, talent is something innate.
"It's true that when a talented player is born, you can work all day, that talent will always be there. And when that talented player works a little... then forget it."
For him, talent is defined in a very particular way.
"For me, talent is succeeding at things without even understanding them. It's natural, it's innate. Some people have this gift."
A definition that reminds us why some players seem capable of executing extraordinary shots with disconcerting ease.
“Being competitive is also a gift.”
Beyond technical talent, Gustavo Pratto believes there is another quality found in the greatest champions.
"Being competitive is a gift."
But this competitiveness is not just about wanting to beat your opponent.
"If you are competitive with yourself every morning, then every day you are striving to become better."
For Pratto, this constant pursuit of progress is what distinguishes the best players in the world.
The coach concluded by pointing out that this mindset is not always pleasant to develop.
"For me, being competitive stems from suffering. Therefore, it's not something pleasant to teach."
