The penultimate day of the group stage of the Hexagon Cup 2025 was decisive. After a promising start to the tournament, the stands of the Madrid Arena were filled this Friday.

The Rafa Nadal Academy sets its pace

With five wins for one defeat, the team of the Rafael Nadal Academy is emerging as the big favourite. After failing to reach the final last year, she seems determined to rectify her situation this season. Noa Cánovas and Noemí Aguilar once again demonstrated their solidity by winning 7/6 6/4 against Marina Lobo and Águeda Pérez of the team KRU, although the latter put up a good resistance.

On their side, Marta Ortega and Gemma Triay won an intense duel 2/6 6/4 10-6 against Paula Josemaria and Alejandra Alonso, not without difficulty. The world number one is struggling to find her bearings in this competition.

Lorena Rufo stands out with authority

Already in great shape since the start of the tournament, Lorena Rufo of the team ElevenEleven continues to impress. Alongside Raquel Eugenio, she has outclassed Marta Barrera and Lucia Peralta 6/2 6/3 with an unassailable domination.

Paquito Navarro wins his last fight against Belasteguín

One of the highlights of the day was the meeting between Paquito Navarro and Fernando Belasteguin, two emblematic figures of padel who faced each other one last time on the Madrid ArenaThe duel lived up to all its promises, with a first set contested until tie-breaker before Navarro and Alex Chozas definitely take the upper hand in the second set 7/6 6/3.

KRU Padel revives with major victories

After a difficult start to the tournament, KRU Padel raised its head with several important victories. Claudia Jensen and Vero Virseda have overturned Delfi Brea and Sofia Araujo in three sets 5/7 7/5 10-5.

On their side, Momo Gonzalez and Fede Chingotto signed a great performance by beating 7/6 7/5 Alex Ruiz and Franco Stupaczuk, ending the Rafa Nadal Academy's unbeaten run.

AD/Vantage holds its ground, 10 Pádel in difficulty

Team AD/Vantage, co-directed by Andy Murray and Anthony Joshua, remains in the running for qualification for the final thanks to a convincing 6/3 7/5 victory by Juan Tello and Martin Di Nenno face Mike Yanguas and Javi Garrido.

On the other hand, training 10 Padel, conducted by Pierre Gasly, sees its hopes of qualification fading away. With only one victory to its name, it seems too far behind to hope to reach the final.

Benjamin Dupouy

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
