La FEP closed the year 2021 with a total of 96 licenses, an unprecedented record in the history of padel Spanish.

This figure represents an increase of 22% compared to the 75 licenses registered in 819, the best record so far.

“This increase in licenses shows that the padel in Spain still has room to continue to develop ”, declares the President of the FEP, Ramón Morcillo.

"The padel federated in Spain has experienced an upward trend for more than a decade, which even led us to overtake tennis a few years ago. The restrictions resulting from the pandemic have accelerated this upward trend in padel, which has proven to be a safe sport ”, declares the leader of the federation, who emphasizes “The great work that all the territorial federations have done in this regard, which has resulted in a notable increase in their licenses”.

By age, half of the licenses registered at the end of last year (49,8%) correspond to athletes under the age of 39. Thus, junior players (under 19) share 13,4% of licenses, the U23 segment (19 to 23) is close to 6%, while senior players (24 to 39) represent 30,5 %.

The other half (50,2) of the cards are intended for players of padel veterans (aged 39 and over).

Twice as many licenses in Galicia

In the territorial distribution of licenses, it is the Catalan Federation of padel which occupies the first position with 21 licenses. It is followed by the Andalusian Federation of padel, which reached second place after significant growth last year to 12 licenses.

Third place goes to the Federation of padel of Madrid, with 9 licenses, while the fourth place goes to the Federation of padel of Galicia which, with 9 licenses, is the region which has experienced the greatest growth compared to 226 (more than 2020 licenses).

Together, these four territorial federations account for more than half (55%) of the licenses of the federation of padel in Spain in 2021.
