Before joining the bosom of the French Tennis Federation in 2014, the padel had a federation of padel.

A life that started in 1989

Created in 1989, the French Federation of Padel Three years later obtained the approval of the Ministry of Sports under the supervision of the Fédération de Jeu de Paume.

In France, the competitions are structured and the first national circuit is born in 1998. Two years later, it is the consecration for the padel French with the organization, in Toulouse and its region, of the 5th world championships padel.

The FFT and the padel : in 2014

In 2013, the FFT unanimously rejected the integration of padel in its statutes. But a year later, she obtained the ministerial delegation of padel.

Indeed the policy change of the French Tennis Federation which accepts the padel in its statutes in 2014 is explained by the fact that the request comes this time from the Ministry of Sports.

The Ministry wants to put an end to a conflict between the National League of Padel and the French Federation of Padel.

A sluggish start before major investments

If the relationship between the FFT and the padel are initially timid, in 2018, the FFT explains wanting to take care of the padel actually by appointing an elected official in charge of padel. This is Hubert Picquier. This one will explain in fact that “the FFT has recognized the growing importance of padel in France and that it wishes to invest in France and abroad".

2018 thus coincides with the establishment of a Federal Commission Padel and an FFT Strategy Padel.

In 2021, with the appointment of Arnaud Di Pasquale as Director of the Mission Padel, the new FFT team wishes speed up communication around this sport.
