In the last column LE MUR EST TON AMI by Kristina Clément. the coach will try to make you understand how to appreciate the trajectory of the balls during double walls. How to anticipate and play the ball after a double wall? A theme far from obvious. But if you can master this move, you can hope for everything in the padel !

Last step: manage the angle of the wall and its uncertainty

Problem: The last big thing that needs to be addressed in the management of double walls is how to deal with angle / corner and its uncertainty. The very specific case where the ball will bounce very close to the crossing of the 2 windows (side and bottom) and the player is unable to know if the ball will first bounce first on the side window or on the glass from the bottom or on the corner. This means that the player is not in the ability to anticipate the trajectory of the ball and to place accordingly.

The sense of anticipation and placement

Solution: In this case, to be able to anticipate all the possible trajectories of the ball, the player must accompany the ball to the corner with the racket in front of him ready to trigger the shot.

Approaching the angle, the player will:

-If you make a classic shot if the ball finally runs along the side wall (forehand for the right player and backhand for the player on the left)

- or make a rotation by following the ball if it makes a double wall that opens (side wall then wall melts) and hit forehand for the left player and backhand for the player right after its rotation.

- have the reflex and responsiveness to clear quickly if the ball just tap the angle of 2 windows and spring right on the player.

Attention to errors ...

Often made mistake: the player gets free towards the center of the court as if to hit a double wall which opens, and once in 2, the ball will go in the other trajectory and will follow the side wall. The player will then be too far to catch the ball which has left on the other window… Once in 2, he will be well positioned which is not enough, the objective is to be able to get closer to 100% of the rate of success!

It's your turn !
