After their big victory against  Paula Josemaría / Bea González  in the semifinals of  Bordeaux P2 ,  Tamara Icardo  et  Claudia jensen  They returned to the press conference to discuss the keys to their match. A victory in two sets, a first final together, and above all, a real confirmation for a pair who were still searching for their benchmark match against the very best.

For  Tamara Icardo The difference wasn't just tactical. Consistency mattered, of course, but mindset was key.

“To beat this type of pair, you have to be very consistent. But I think the key was also the attitude. We went in with a lot of desire, a lot of presence, with this will to win. I believe it was almost more this attitude than the tactics that made the difference.”

One sentence that sums up the match of the two players well: a lot of intensity, few weak moments, and a real ability to stay in their plan even when Josemaría and González tried to accelerate.

Claudia Jensen: “We believe we can do great things”

He was very prominent in this semi-final,  Claudia jensen  delivered one of their most accomplished matches. Argentina dominated their diagonal, found many winning areas and above all seemed very comfortable in the slow conditions of Bordeaux.

She explains this feeling by the work built with  Tamara Icardo  since several tournaments.

“We’re trying to create a good game together with Tamara. In recent tournaments, against this type of pair, things didn’t always go as we wanted. We tried, but it didn’t work out. Today, as Tamara said, attitude, presence, the desire to win, and the belief that we can do great things were the key.”

Only at  20 years Jensen continues to move forward, without wanting to set a ceiling on his level.

“With my father, we mainly work on consistency. I can't say where my ceiling is, you never know. Some reach a milestone at 25, others at 20, and still others at 30. Today, it's true that I may have carried the team a little, but I felt good. I also saw that Tamara was doing well alongside me.”

She also emphasized the importance of  Maxi Grabiel  on the bench, capable of making the necessary adjustments in important moments.

“Maxi gave us several keys that helped us. We were able to play a good match.”

When asked about the atmosphere in Bordeaux, while  Josemaría / González  are usually very supportive, Jensen smiled as he mentioned a small group of particularly noisy supporters in the stands.

“There was a small group of boys shouting my name. It was huge, really funny. And at the same time, it makes you want to fight even more when you know you have people cheering you on.”

This support clearly mattered in a semi-final where Jensen and Icardo displayed a lot of energy from start to finish.

Icardo isn't thinking about selection yet

This final inevitably reignites discussions surrounding  Tamara Icardo  and her place in the Spanish national team, particularly with the upcoming World Cup in mind. But the player prefers to remain focused on her own path.

“I don’t think about it much, because everything can change very quickly. There’s still time before that moment. It will be up to the coach to decide. I’m continuing on my path, and what will be, will be.”

With this first final together,  Icardo / Jensen  They confirm that they can pose serious problems for the best pairs on the circuit. Their victory against the world's number 2s is not only a great result: it's also a strong signal sent to the women's draw.
