Isabelle Vannier has become a staple of padel French. The founder of OSS Barcelona has allowed several hundred trainees to improve their skills in padel in Barcelona. We wanted to know more about this great ladies of the padel French and what she thought of our young thumbs.

What about our young prodigies? Should we copy Spanish know-how in the training of young people?

Le padel remaining an emerging sport in France, training for young people is unfortunately not yet as developed in France as in Spain, which benefits from its first generation of players trained purely in France. padel from an early age.

How does the training system for young players work in Spain?

Reflecting what we have seen in France in the tennis world (for those who like to make a comparison between these 2 sports;), in the majority of clubs, young people train according to their level 2 to 5 times per week with sessions of 1h to 3h / day.

On the program, lots of basket exercises offering technical repetition, before tackling themed game situations. These sessions are accompanied by physical training specific to the activity padel and in the biggest clubs it has been possible for several years to find there the intervention of a mental trainer with the most promising young people to provide the most complete training possible ...

The first sports-studies should be born in the coming months, some projects are already underway ...

What about the Spanish competition system?

Youth tournaments are held regularly in major cities. In Barcelona for example, every week it is possible to play in official matches. Between the calendar of the team championships, that of the individual championships qualifying for regional and national phases and the young and adult tournaments for the older ones, the opportunities abound! It is rather the management of the recovery phases that becomes the concern 😉 We can't wait to experience this problem in France!

Why is the growth of padel in Spain among young people is it still relevant?

The recruitment of young players continues and even multiplies with actions of all kinds, such as initiations in schools, actions with adult audiences with the idea of attracting parents and then seeing their children learn and continue in this sport which continues to emerge and has even taken over in the world of racket sports!

At what age do the youngest begin?

As in our French tennis schools, the Spanish clubs welcome children at padel from their youngest age: from 3 years old through games and workshops with suitable equipment.
The future in France looks promising, let's hope to benefit from all these actions in the years to come in all our French clubs!

One last message to pass?
