The Italy Major Premier Padel 2024 is already the day of the finals with four pairs and an intruder: Arturo Coello/Agustin Tapia will challenge Ale Galan/Fede Chingotto in the men's draw, and Ari Sanchez/Paula Josemaria will be the big favorite against Lucia Sainz/Patty Llaguno in the women's table.

In Rome, the semi-finals took place in a packed Foro Italico Center Court, with more than 7 fans attending the evening session.

Coello / Tapia – Devastating

Devastators. There are no other words to define Coello and Tapia, reigning champions at the Rome Major and respectively number 1 and number 2 in the FIP ranking: during the semi-final against Paquito Navarro and Juan Lebron (4), they left no chance to their opponents, who only managed to hold on in the first set. 6/3 6/1 was the final result in 58 minutes of play, the second set lasting only 18 minutes: Coello and Tapia made 42 winners during the match, 15 more than Navarro and Lebron, who will still have to wait to reach their first final.

Galan / Chingotto, the quiet strength…

Galan and Chingotto won their place in the final, producing a game that Franco Stupaczuk and Martin Di Nenno were unable to counter. The Superpibes, seeded number 3 in the tournament, had to lose to the Chingalan duo. Final score: 6/2 6/4 after one hour and 27 minutes of play.

As often, Chingotto puts in a perfect performance and demonstrates that he is the best player on the right and perhaps in the world today. Very regular, effective in the short game, and increasingly aggressive, it allows Galan to be confident in all phases of offensive play. He is the MVP of the match with another finish that will make everyone agree.

Seventh tournament together and seventh final (including three titles). In Rome, it will also be the seventh confrontation of the season between Coello/Tapia and Galan/Chingotto: three victories for each pair so far.

Sainz / Llaguno, the pair that no one expected

After winning the last two tournaments played including last week in Bordeaux, Gemma Triay and Claudia Fernandez (2) did not manage to go all the way in Rome. At the Foro Italico, Lucia Sainz and Patty Llaguno (8) delivered a surprising match and won 7/5 6/4 in one hour and 48 minutes. Sainz and Llaguno reach a first final in a Major, the second of the season after that reached a month ago at Banco de Chile Santiago Premier Padel P1, where they were beaten by Triay and Fernandez.

Sanchez / Josemari, big favorite

On Sunday, on Center Court (18:30 p.m.), they will face Ari Sanchez and Paula Josemaria, both number 1 in the FIP rankings and reaching their second consecutive final at the Foro Italico. The two Spaniards had to fight to come from Jessica Castelló and Claudia Jensen, seeded number 5. After winning the first set 7/6 after saving a set point, Ari and Paula obtained the second set 6/4 to the end of a two-hour match. This is their fifth final of the season: they have already won three titles, including the previous Major in Qatar.
