The second Major (Qatar Major postponed) of the season begins this week in Rome with the Italy Major Premier Padel , one of the most prestigious tournaments on the calendar. As every year, several French players will try to make their mark in a particularly competitive draw where the best players in the world will be present.

Dylan Guichard takes advantage of his wild card

The good news for the French team came from  Dylan Guichard who will directly compete in the main draw thanks to a  wild card obtained with the Italian Marco Cassetta .

An excellent result for the Frenchman, who has already secured the points awarded in the first round of the main draw of a Major. This participation guarantees him at least  35 FIP points , a total that is far from insignificant in the race for the world ranking.

Teaming up with one of the best Italian players, Guichard will have a great opportunity to test himself against the world's elite in an exceptional setting at the Foro Italico.

Thomas Leygue reunites with Aris Patiniotis

In the qualifiers, all French eyes will be on  Thomas Leygue .

The French number 1 is taking advantage of his  protected classification  This was achieved thanks to his results last season, which allowed him to be among the seeded players in the qualifiers. This important position gives him a more favorable draw on paper.

Another notable element: Leygue is reunited with his former partner  Aris Patiniotis , with whom he is currently competing on the FIP Tour. The two men are also competing this week in the  FIP Bronze Castellón proof that they have decided to continue their association.

With their status as No. 2 seeds in the qualifiers, they will be among the serious contenders for a place in the main draw.

Blanqué and Boronad awaiting a miracle

The situation is more complicated for  Bastien Blanqué  et  Yoan Boronad .

The French pair are currently featured in the  9th place on the waiting list  and should therefore not be included in the qualifiers unless there is a significant series of last-minute withdrawals.

An absence that would inevitably be frustrating for the two Frenchmen, who would have liked to take advantage of the exposure and points offered by a tournament of this magnitude.

Three French women involved

In the women's competition, the French delegation will consist of three players.

Carla Toully , entered directly into the main draw alongside the Spaniard  Amanda Lopez Morale This is very good news for the Frenchwoman, who continues to reap the rewards of her excellent recent results, notably her final at the FIP Silver London.

With a favorable draw, Touly can legitimately hope to reach the  round of 32 , or even create a little surprise and go for something more.

Other French women present:  Alix Collombon who will form the No. 16 seed with the Russian  Ksenia Sharifova After their impressive final at the FIP Silver Oeiras, this pair arrives with confidence and could be a spoiler in the main draw.

Finally  Léa Godallier  will also be present with the Spanish player  Ariadna Canellas Rodero An association capable of achieving a great run, Godallier is confident after its victory at the FIP Bronze Marnes.

Benjamin Dupouy

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
