We were able to interview Javier Garrido, this 19-year-old player from Cordoba in Spain, ranking 28th in the ranking World Padel Tour. 2019 report and 2020 objectives.

During an exhibition match at Vulcano Sports in Tenerife, we were able to spend some time with Javier Garrido, 19, a StarVie player. A very positive 2019 season which ends with his separation from Martin Di Nenno. What assessment is he making and how does he see his 2020 season?

I think the 2019 season was the best season I have had in my whole “young” career as a professional player. With Martin Di Nenno, our start to the season started with qualifying where we played 33rd place pairs, and we finish 2019 against pairs at 13th or 14th place. So we can say that our level has evolved.

2020, change of pair. I did not want to part with Martin Di Nenno because he is a very good friend, we remain friends of course, but he wanted to change goals and way of working for this new season. It is a choice that I fully respect. I wish him all the happiness in the world.

For my part, I will continue to work hard to increase my level of play, and as soon as I have my new partner (Normally it will be Juani Mieres), we will set goals together that we will try to achieve. I can't tell you yet who my next partner will be, maybe a StarVie partner or not.

My personal goals for 2020 are first of all to have fun on the pitch as I currently do during tournaments or like today during this exhibition with Lamperti, Maxi Grabiel and this Canarian player Javier Eloy. I have fun on the pitch, both during training and during matches, and in addition I earn my living. My goals are clear; continue like this. And by the way thank you to Padel Magazine For his work, we read you regularly.
