To fall on a French is to have a bad picture on the professional circuit of padel. Jérémy Scatena, 118th player in the world, will join the Spanish Adrián Mercadal Berenguer, current 94th player in the world, from the next Madrid Masters tournament in early September.

A chance, but also pressure for the French player who sees a unique opportunity to come to him for "try to do something big“. The pair allow themselves 3 to 4 tests of the World Padel Tour to test and see for the rest of the season. Interview.

What are you going to play with for the next steps of the WPT?

I will play the next 3 tournaments of World Padel Tour as well as the Paris Challenger with Adrian Mercadal.

Adrien Mercadel, the regular of previas ...

Indeed, he is a world top 100 player. He's not even 30 years old! In the padel, it's still young. And he already knows the previas. And even quite well. For me, it's a chance to be able to play with a player who can give me this experience.

Why do you think that with him, you can go far?

He's a very strong right-hander on the fly, a big smash, who defends well. Adrien is well aware of the level I want to take for this second part of the year. He had a mixed first part of the season with his partner, Marc Quílez Palleja (editor's note. Who should play with Borja Yribarren Abecia, 68th player in the world)

So, more pressure than usual?

I like the pressure and having a player of this standing with me is a huge plus. It's positive pressure. I am preparing for this second part of the season. And it is already starting very well.

This second season will be decisive for the rest of my career.

With Johan Bergeron, we saw you doing things together ...

With Jo, something really happened to Mijas.

We played 6/7 games maybe the best padel of our life,

We have a match ball to beat two top100 6 / 2 6 / 1 and in the end we beat 6 / 2 6 / 4.

This experience made us want to replay together so we will make two challenger in September, Lugo and San Javier.

We have a fairly complementary game, it is for me with Benjamin Tison the two players who will count in the years to come. It's a chance for me they both play right (laughs).

Scatena / Bergeron: Together with the 2 Challenger WPT

And Mark Bernils? What is going on ?

Mark Bernils has a crazy talent but his goals are too far from mine.

During the Mijas WPT he was in Ibiza. It's cool, but it's not compatible with getting into the top 100 and becoming a great Padel. Afterwards I think I did well to choose him because it is also largely thanks to him, if today I have the opportunity to play with a player like Mercadal.

More than ever, objective top 100?

The second half of the season begins, and my goal is simple: Enter the top 100.

I am with the partner I dreamed of having, and until now it was quite easy mentally because I played most matches in perf, there I will play against less strong opponents on paper until previa ( we will be seeded).

It will manage this pressure is the only thing that remains to me to enter the top 100.
