Jérémy Scatena, former French number 1 and first French player to enter the world Top 100, turned to entrepreneurship by founding 100% Padel. During an interview with Padel Magazine, he looks back on this new adventure, shares his perspective on the Paris Major and evokes the next French Championships.

Paris Major

Le Paris Major has established itself, in just a few years, as one of the most prestigious tournaments on the world padel circuit. Its reputation is based both on its emblematic setting, the site of Roland Garros, a true reference in the French sporting landscape, and on its tournament status Major, one of four events in this category within the circuit Premier PadelSince its creation, three editions have already been organized, and the fourth will be held in September.

“For me, the Paris Major is the most beautiful tournament in the world. I think it's a great source of pride for the French Tennis Federation to have managed to organize this tournament, especially these first three editions, which have grown in popularity each year.”

Each year, Paris Major brings together the world's padel elite on the prestigious site of Roland Garros, driven by an increasingly strong enthusiasm for the discipline, both in its practice and in its media coverage, in France and internationally.

“More and more people in the stands, especially for the qualifiers and the first rounds, with all the French players.”

The renewal of the tournament

Le Paris Major Premier Padel will remain at Roland Garros until 2029, following an agreement concluded between Premier Padel and French Tennis FederationThe 2025 edition will, however, have a lighter format, with a reduced duration of nine to seven days of competition, scheduled for September 8 to 14.

“At Paris’s request, there were smaller tables to probably reduce costs and logistics. But that was not the promise of Premier Padel at the start, and I think PP has made a lot of mistakes in recent months, including not sufficiently supporting tournament organizers, who are the ones who actually fund the circuit.”

2025, the Paris Major Premier Padel will bear the name Alpine Paris Major Premier Padel. Alpine, already a premium partner for the last two editions, becomes title partner of the event for the next three years. Significant support for the Parisian tournament.

“Fortunately thatAlpine, which will be the next naming of the tournament, allows the competition to take place, because it is difficult to achieve financial balance. The fact thatAlpine Joining the tournament probably allowed him to sign for five more years.”

100% Program Padel

The society of Jérémy Scatena, specialized in the manufacture of padel courts, takes part in national and international events, notably with the creation of courts designed by 100% Padel on tournaments Premier Padel de Bordeaux et Brussels P2.

“We continue to want to be present at the tournaments Premier Padel. We will be on that of Brussels, P2 in April, and at Bordeaux early July. We hope the players will be there.”

With the objective, for Jérémy Scatena and its company, to become a key player in the Paris Major :

"In 100% Padel, we dream of one day being the official ground of Roland GarrosWe know that the tournament is not necessarily balanced, so we will be able to make a good offer to support the event and help its financial balance. We are a French company, we are already the official manufacturer for 2 stages of Premier PadelI hope that one day this will be the logical continuation with the FFT.”

French Championships

His association with Adrien Maigret

Jérémy Scatena, 15th French, will return in September for the French Championships and will share the track alongsideAdrien Maigret, 25th, to form the number 11 pair in the competition.

“I am really very happy to play the French Championships with Adrien. I wasn't his first choice, but that's normal, I'm not very trained anymore. I dedicate a lot of time to my professional life with 100% Padel, even though I train and physically I feel good.”

Adrien Maigret had initially targeted Maxime Joris (6th French) to play the French Championships, but the latter refused the proposal before joining forces with another right-wing player, Julien Seurin (7ᵉ).

"I think that'Adrien, today on the left, is one of the best French players, and I think that Joris should have played with him. Afterwards, the theme of partners, everyone chooses, but I think it's a shame to change sides to play with someone who isn't necessarily better."

Bergeron / Vanbauce

The opinion of Jérémy Scatena on the pair Johan Bergeron / Thomas Vanbauce, seeded number 4 in the next French Championships :

"Instead of Johan, I would have rather chosen to stand on the left and play with it Dylan. Afterwards, he performs on the right so he prefers to stay on his side, it's understandable. It could perhaps have made a nice pair, like when he played with Ben Tison, a left-hander. When he's with a left-hander, he performs well on the left. It was 50/50.”

Forcin / Tison

Maxime Forcin (11ᵉ) and Benjamin Tison (15th) will be the number 6 seeded pair of the French Championships 2025.

"Forcin / Tison, they're a good pair. I don't think they really have a chance of winning, but on the other hand, they can perform, be the outsiders to reach the final, it's possible. Forcin is not one of the three best French left-footed players for me, rather in the 5/6/7 best. After all, that's my opinion. But he really has a game that goes well with Ben, who needs a player who blocks very well on the backhand. And it's true thatAdrien Maigret ou Forcin, on the backhand side, they are very strong, and it is quite complementary.”

Nicolas Fillaudeau

A big sports enthusiast and former tennis player, I discovered padel a few years ago without really focusing on it. Then I became addicted to this sport by practicing it and watching the premier padel matches. Looking forward to sharing the 2025 news with you!
