The arrival of  Nike in the world of padel  Things seem to be taking shape. Following the information revealed in recent days about the American brand's interest in this rapidly growing sport, one name is already emerging as the American equipment manufacturer's priority:  Agustín Tapia .

But on the side of  NOX For the long-standing equipment supplier of the world's number one team, the message is clear: nothing can be done without a  three-party negotiation .

Tapia, the ideal face for Nike's entry into padel

Number one in the world alongside Arturo Coello, Agustín Tapia is today one of the most popular figures on the circuit. His spectacular game, his charisma, and his status as a global icon make him an ideal target for a brand looking to make a strong impact upon entering the padel market.

According to several Spanish media outlets, Nike has already begun taking steps to explore entering the sport, using the Argentinian as its main ambassador.

 NOX confirms initial contacts

When questioned by the specialist media outlet Contrapared,  Jesus Ballvé , founder of NOX, confirmed that contacts had indeed taken place.

"Nike wants to get into padel. Through intermediaries, they already contacted us some time ago."

The Spanish leader, however, reiterated one essential point:  Agustín Tapia is under contract with NOX until the end of 2028 .

"Agus is not leaving NOX. Agus has a contract until the end of 2028."

A statement that closes the door on a quick departure of the "Mozart of Catamarca".

 A possible three-way alliance

However, NOX does not completely reject the idea of a collaboration with the American multinational.

According to Ballvé, if Nike wants to enter padel with a range of textiles and shoes while relying on Tapia, the discussion must absolutely include NOX.

"If Nike wants to enter the market now with apparel and footwear and wants to partner with Agus, they need to discuss it with us, and we need to assess whether or not this partnership with Nike interests us."

The idea of a triangular agreement cannot therefore be ruled out. Tapia could, for example, maintain his relationship with NOX regarding rackets, while becoming one of Nike's leading figures for apparel and footwear.

Padel is increasingly attracting sports giants

This situation primarily illustrates the growing appeal of padel. Long observed from afar by major international brands, the sport is now considered a market with strong growth potential.

With its expansion in Europe, America and now Asia, padel represents a strategic opportunity for groups like Nike, which are looking to establish themselves quickly in a rapidly growing sport.

For now, no agreement has been announced and discussions still appear to be at a preliminary stage. One thing is certain, however:  Agustín Tapia is already considered one of the most valuable assets in world padel. and its commercial future could become one of the major issues of the coming seasons.

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
