It's now official: From January 7 to 12, 2025, the municipality of Mondeville will host a tournament FIP. Great news that Jimmy Devaux, one of the organizers of the event, shared on the microphone of Padel Magazine.
A competition not to be missed next year
"It was quite complicated to arrive at the choice of the place and the date! We had several scenarios before arriving at this one. But the result is there, we are very happy, with my associates, to organize this event in this beautiful room of Mondeville »
The Bérégovoy hall, theater of the final phases
"We wanted to offer a FIP BRONZE, with a qualifying phase within the PadelShot de Mondeville. It will be a major partner of the event, which we thank enormously. The particularity of this tournament is that from the semi-finals, we will relocate to the Bérégovoy hall in Mondeville. It is a beautiful hall that can accommodate up to 1800 spectators. There will be a single field surrounded by four beautiful stands.
A real obstacle course
"All the organizers know that it's a puzzle with several pieces. You have to find money, private and public sponsors, who play a major role in making this type of event happen. We have a three-year agreement with the city hall of Mondeville, thanks to the support of the mayor Helen Burgat, who believes in our project. We have three years ahead of us to develop this FIP, and we have ambitions!”
What ideas for the future?
"Many business leaders play padel. The economic fabric of Caen makes it possible to build a coherent budget for a FIP Bronze. This is our first edition, so we want to secure the event and avoid getting carried away too quickly. We know it's not easy everywhere. We've worked with Stephane Berrafato of the FFT, who believes in this project and will support us. We are starting gently, hoping to move on to the next steps so that it becomes a great padel party."
The mantra: unite around padel
" The Normandy is in full development in terms of padel, whether in number of players or tracks. Thanks to the support of the Normandy Tennis League, we hope to see many Normans present, and why not also our Breton neighbors. The idea is to create cohesion between all the Norman clubs. We also organize three amateur tournaments before the event: a tournament P25 On Friday, December 20, a tournament P100 Saturday, December 21, and a tournament P500 on Sunday, December 22. The finalists of these tables will have the opportunity to play their finals on the ground of the Bérégovoy hall. A unique opportunity to play in international tournament conditions.
A date conducive to the beautiful game
"We believe this period will attract some very good pairs. We are the only tournament FIP organized in Europe on this date, so we are keeping our fingers crossed to welcome one or two headliners, as well as the best French players."
