At only 24 years, Jon sanz is already one of the most striking faces on the professional circuit. With his passion, expressive gestures and boundless energy, the left-hander from Pamplona has established himself as a unique figure in the world of padel. In an interview with MARCA, he talks about his association with Momo González, his personal ambitions and the current state of the circuit.
A new adventure with Momo
Since the start of the 2025 season, Jon has been playing alongside Momo González. Although they have not yet reached the semi-finals, they are stabilizing in the final draws and showing encouraging signs. "We are starting to feel better on the court, we are playing well, we are happy." Their goal is clear: to regularly reach the final stages of tournaments. "We want to reach the semi-finals, the finals. We know it takes time, but we are working for it."

The Legacy with Coki Nieto
Before Momo, Jon formed a formidable pair with Coki Nieto, with whom he won the Premier Padel Finals 2024 in Barcelona. He remembers: "From the first training sessions with Coki, everything worked out. We complemented each other perfectly." This was a turning point for him: "We won some big matches. The others knew they had to play well to beat us."

A player like no other
Jon Sanz fully embraces his personality: intense, ambitious, sometimes overwhelmed by his emotions. "I'm very passionate. Sometimes it wins me. Sometimes it plays tricks on me. But that's my nature, and I won't change." What he wants? To be seen as a "different" player, withEnergy, theAmbition and fierce will to win"Even if I play chess against Kasparov, I want to win," he jokes.
The dream of one day being number 1
Far from formulaic speeches, Sanz speaks the truth. He does not set unrealistic goals, but keeps thehope of becoming world number 1. "It would be a dream, but I don't want to get frustrated. I get up every day to improve, that's my method."
Defender of a more professional padel
Jon Sanz also took advantage of the interview to talk about the outdoor playing conditions, especially after his difficult match at Qatar Major, disrupted by the wind and a sandstorm: "It was impossible to play, we couldn't prepare anything. I'm in favor of indoor padel. It's a precision sport." He calls on the authorities to be more consistent: "If we want padel to become an Olympic sport, we can't continue like this."

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
