A major figure in the world of professional padel is about to turn a page. Jorge Martínez has announced that 2026 will be his last season as a coach on the professional circuit. . A decision carefully considered by the Madrid-based coach, who is nevertheless not leaving padel.
« This season will be my last to travel as a coach on the professional circuit. " he announced in a video posted on his social media.
After years filled with training, travel, and tournaments, Martínez now wishes slow down the pace and devote more time to other projects .
A special story with Ale Galán
It's difficult to discuss Jorge Martínez's career without mentioning... Ale Galán The Spanish coach has been working with the Madrid player since his 15 years and accompanied him in his evolution to the top of world padel.
Even today, Martínez is on the bench of Galán and Fede Chingotto who are fighting to regain the top spot in the world rankings. An adventure that will therefore continue until the end of the season before the coach leaves the circuit.
Throughout his career, he has also worked with many big names. Among women, he has notably accompanied Delfi Brea and Bea González , but also the Mapi and Majo Sánchez Alayeto which he helped to reach the top spot in the world.
Juan Lebrón He was also under his command during the latter part of his time with Galán, following Mariano Amat's departure. More recently, Martínez has also been involved in the development of young players such as Pol Hernandez and Guille Collado .
"I don't remember the trophies, but the people."
Despite the titles and number ones he has achieved throughout his career, the Spaniard prefers to remember the relationships built over the years.
« If there's one thing I'll remember from all these years, it's not the trophies, it's the people: the players, my colleagues, my family, and everyone I've shared this journey with. »
A career spent living to the rhythm of the circuit, between victories, defeats, travel, and long weeks away from home. A daily life he loved, but one he now feels ready to leave behind.
Not a retirement from padel
Jorge Martínez insists on one point: he's not leaving padel His daily life is simply going to change.
The Madrid native particularly wants to become more involved in M3 his training project, with the ambition of passing on his experience to young players and coaches .
« I want to dedicate more time to M3, to training players and coaches, to working with young people and to sharing everything that these years of competition have taught me. »
He also wants to give himself time to... new projects and new experiences , after years in which his schedule was almost entirely dictated by that of the professional circuit.
One last season to finish with Galán and Chingotto
However, there are still several months to go before this chapter is definitively closed. Martínez will continue to support his players until the end of the season and intends to make the most of every tournament.
« This is not a goodbye, it is a huge thank you for everything I have experienced and especially the enthusiasm to start again. »
The end of an era is therefore looming on the sidelines of the circuit. After having accompanied some of the players who marked the last decade and participated in the rise of Ale Galán , Jorge Martínez will retire from professional padel travel at the end of the year. , but certainly not the tracks.
I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
