Joris Moret, a professional tennis player from Marseille, shares his experience between tennis and padel. Ranked -15 in France and 1200 ATP, he looks back on his beginnings in padel, his rare competitions, and his sporting future, while emphasizing the importance of his training at French Touch Academy. Discover his career and his vision of a possible reconversion.

Discovery of padel
“I discovered the paddle A year and a half ago, in a club in Marseille where there were two courts. After a tennis training session, someone was missing for a game of padel, I was offered to play. I found it really nice and fun. Thanks to my tennis basics and my 'good hand', I quickly got hooked on the little games.”

However, Tennis remains my priority : “I play padel very rarely, maybe once a month or once every two months, just for fun.”

Tennis and padel: a natural synergy
"The tennis and paddle go well together. All racket sports appeal to me. Thanks to my technical skills, I easily find my bearings. And then, Théo is a very good tennis friend ; we have known each other since we were little. We have played three tournaments together P1000.

For example, a year and a half ago, in Toulon, we reached the semi-finals after getting out of the group stage. We had beaten well-ranked players, including 14 et 15 French. It was a great performance! We also participated in a P1000 in Agde, but we lost against Maxime Joris, my best friend.”

On the future in competition: “Why not do tournaments together again if our respective schedules allow it. But with our current ranking, having to start again in groups each time is frustrating.”

The state of mind between tennis and padel
“In terms of mindset, doubles tennis and padel are very similar: you have to communicate a lot, talk tactics, work out combinations. They are sports that require a lot of interaction between partners.”

However, it remains clear: “Padel is a leisure activity for me. My number one project remains tennis.”

Training and outlook
“I am currently training at the French Touch Academy, in Agde. It is an excellent tennis academy that also offers padel facilities. Mario manages that part.”

And for the future? “After my singles career, why not try padel more seriously? We’ll see where tennis takes me. But padel could be a great career change.”
