On April 5, 2025, the UrbanSoccer of the Île de Puteaux will host a unique event: the first solidarity padel tournament organized by the Sport dans la Ville association. This inter-company tournament will support a noble cause while promoting conviviality and cohesion within teams. We met Benoit Taillardat, event manager at Sport dans la Ville, to find out more.
Q: Can you tell us about Sport dans la Ville and its commitment to young people in priority neighborhoods?
“Sport dans la Ville is a recognized association of general interest, created 25 years ago. Our mission is to support young people from priority neighborhoods in their professional integration, using sport as a lever for integration and personal development. We build football and basketball fields at the foot of buildings, directly in the neighborhoods. Thanks to qualified sports instructors, we offer young people a structured framework to practice their sport while being supported in their academic and professional orientation from the age of 14.”
Q: How did the idea of the solidarity padel tournament come about?
“The idea of organizing a padel tournament came naturally, in our desire to diversify solidarity events while creating a moment of conviviality. We have always been keen to organize events where companies can get involved. Padel is a very popular and accessible sport, and an inter-company tournament is an excellent way to bring employees together around a common cause. This tournament is also an opportunity to strengthen team spirit, to create links while supporting a great initiative.”
Q: What is the program of this event and who is it intended for?
“This tournament is open to all levels, from beginners to experienced players, and is intended for company employees. We have designed a format with mixed teams, in order to promote inclusion and conviviality. Each company can form teams of two players, with a total of 6 employees per team. There will be moments of competition but also of sharing and team-building. In addition to the matches, participants will have the opportunity to enjoy the festive atmosphere with supporters invited to encourage them. The objective is to spend a day that is both sporty and supportive.”
Q: How will the funds raised from the event be used?
“The funds raised through participation in the tournament will be used directly to finance our youth support programs. We need these funds to continue building sports infrastructure in the neighborhoods and offer young people opportunities for professional integration, whether they are interested in careers in sport, culture, or other sectors. Participation in the tournament is €4, or €000 after tax exemption, and each donation will be directly invested in youth support projects.”
Q: What do you expect from the companies that will participate in this tournament?
“We hope that they will come in large numbers to support this great event. This tournament is a real opportunity for companies to engage in a solidarity approach, while promoting the cohesion of their teams. It is also a time when their employees will be able to live a unique experience, combining sport, solidarity and team-building. Each company that participates will become an actor in our mission and will contribute to giving young people from the neighborhoods the opportunity for successful professional integration.”
Q: Finally, what would you say to those who are still hesitant to register?
“Don’t miss this opportunity to have fun while doing something for an important cause! This tournament is a unique chance to live a collective and supportive experience. By participating, you contribute to a just cause and have a great time with colleagues. We look forward to seeing you on April 5th for an unforgettable day at the UrbanSoccer on Île de Puteaux.
