Norman SANCHEZ and Benjamin JOULOT win the P500 at Hpark by Hyundai
24 men's teams were in Clermont-Ferrand 9, 10 and 11 February to compete for the succession of Benjamin TISON / Adrien MAIGRET pair titled in 2017 in the P500 volcanoes.
After very good qualifying the 1 / 8e finals were held without surprise despite the good resistance of the pair HOLDERBACH / SCHWAB from Strasbourg to try to thwart the prognosis.
The 4 first seeded then qualified for the semi-finals in tight matches, AMIOT / FOUSSEREAU even having to save 4 2e balls set against BOUCHOUCHA / COUNTRIES which will be wary in the next local tournaments (Dominique PAYS playing never more than 8 minutes from home).
In the semi-finals we witnessed the first surprise of the tournament with the victory of the Lyon pair SANCHEZ / JOULOT which eliminated the seeded number 1. On the other side their Lyonnais colleagues FAURE / BOCH obtained 2 set balls in the 2nd against the pair CORDERO / SIDBON who ended up winning 6/3 7/5 despite an alert on the back for the Clermont.
Unfortunately for the very many spectators present, Mario CORDERO was indeed injured in the back and could not defend his chances for the final. The match for 3rd place having already been played and won by the pair FAURE / BOCH, there will be no final to conclude this P500 of volcanoes by Hyundai.
In girls, the pair Emilie COULAND and Célia ZWILLER won ahead of Manon COURTINAT and Hélène FAURE. Audrey NIGRON and Ambroisine VAISSIE-GILLET take 3rd place.
