Le  powerful left-wing player  takes stock at mid-season, his various associations, his progress on the track in recent weeks with results that followed alongside  Martin DiNenno. 

A rebirth with Libaak

Before being courted by  Di Nenno ,  Juan Tello  had started the season  with the young Tino Libaak .

“It was he who gave me back this desire, this flame,” explains the Cordouan.

Despite their separation,  Tello retains a special affection  for this period: “It wasn't a question of level. But by joining Di Nenno, I had  the assurance of entering directly into the eight  first pairs of the circuit”. A stake so important to avoid complicated draws and ensure  valuable points in the race for the top 10. 

A reconstructed mind

Previous years have been  more complex for Tello.  After his long and fruitful collaboration with  Fede Chingotto , he has had a string of partners without finding the necessary stability. He even mentions a form of performance anxiety:

“I wanted to prove that I was still in the game, but I was playing under constant pressure.”

He got through it thanks in particular to the help of his team and  his psychologist Alba , it also shows  the usefulness of psychological support  in high-level sport and particularly in padel.

A new beginning with Pablo Cardona

Associated to  Pablo Cardona for the first time at P1 Tarragona, Juan Tello  is overflowing with enthusiasm: “What I like is that we are all in the same project. Pablo also trains with Seba Nerone, we share the same ideas, the same goals.”  At 30, Tello intends to pass on his experience  and support Cardona in his progression. The duo aims for a quick return to the Top 8, with a clear ambition:

“We want to be one of the most competitive pairs on the circuit.”

 And a dream on hold: to play again with Chingotto 

At the end of the interview,  a nostalgic note  : Tello does not close the door to a future reunification with  Chingotto , his former iconic partner in crime. “Maybe that day will come. We grew up together. We each evolved, but I have faith that day will come.”
