As part of the FIP SILVER in Narbonne, Julien Seurin, unfortunately eliminated in the 1/8th finals by the pair Masferrer / Vera Lopez, became a real commentator, in particular to encourage the last French players in the competition, namely: Bastien Blanqué, Johan Bergeron, Timéo Fonteny and Yoan Boronad. A great opportunity to be able to chat with Mario Cordero in commentary.
The best players in the world play before the glass: explained
Julien and Mario both agreed that the world's best padel players are monstrous when it comes to playing with the glass. They are unbeatable in anticipating rebounds, as well as in their choice of using the glass during a match. However, where the difference is made is before the rebound on the glass. “The players who make the biggest difference are those who play faster, and especially those who play before the glass.”, says Julien Seurin in the commentary.
Does this mean everyone has to play this way? No. To play like this, you obviously have to master the rebounds off the glass perfectly. Otherwise, the players opposite you will try to play long shots as much as possible to put you in difficulty.
Another observation made by Julien is also possible: “Modern padel is playing tennis.” With less use of glass, the padel aspect is disappearing a little. It remains to be seen whether this trend continues, or whether it's simply the style of play of the best players in the world today, and whether this style will continue to evolve in the years to come.
Julien Seurin pleasantly surprised by the quality of the Narbonne club
The Narbonne club is a young club. In just a few months, Théo Barthe (director of the Narbonne club) and his team managed to organize a FIP SILVER under excellent conditions.
Julien Seurin: “Honestly, it's a great club, the quality of the pitches is top notch, and they're also air-conditioned. The condition of the pitches is very good, and on top of that, when I arrived, I received a great welcome.”
In an interview with Franck Binisti, Théo Barthe states his ambitions. He hopes to organize a FIP GOLD with the support of the Narbonne multimodal arena (4 seats) , where the D1 volleyball team now plays.
Julien Seurin's End of Season
This year, Julien Seurin has had some difficulty finding a permanent partner. He is reportedly considering playing with Albert Trias. However, the future seems uncertain, as Albert is originally a right-wing player, but he has agreed to play on the left to team up with Julien. The latter specifies that “several tournaments” are planned, but without giving further details. He also confides that he has “a little trouble having fun, especially off the pitch, when he’s not playing with French teammates or when his partner doesn’t have the same state of mind as him”.

Julien was originally supposed to try a partnership with Thomas Vanbauce, but this could not happen due to the latter's injury. Julien Seurin discusses one of the somewhat negative aspects of padel here: the difficulty in finding a regular partner , between injuries, personal affinities and differences in state of mind.
