On the other side of the Atlantic, in Argentina, the Mapei cup (Copa Mapei) is gaining more and more followers every year. But where does this idea come from and how does this competition work?

The Mapei Cup was born in 2015. This event has become the major competition of the national circuit of padel in Argentina, the AJPP. A high-quality organization that makes the Mapei Cup one of the main events padel the most important in the country.

In 2017, in view of the interest shown by the players and especially by the public, the organization decided to go upmarket, inviting pairs from the WPT as well as the number 1 and 2 pair from Brazil. To top it off, an exhibition match with local stars Roby Gatikker, Gustavo la “Gata” Brinner and Sanyo Gutierrez, make the event a date not to be missed. Thanks to this bet, the tournament becomes international, the media are interested, and the repercussions reach most of the countries of South America.

In 2018, rebels, but the organization decides to continue the ascent. The Mapei Cup becomes a stage of the national circuit and offers an exhibition with players from the world top 10: Sanyo Gutierrez / Maxi Sanchez, Miguel Lamperti / Juan Cruz Belluati, AgustinTapia / Juan Martin Diaz y Juan Tello / Fede Chingotto. A great celebration of padel which will unite Argentine tennis stars, Nalbandian and Schwank, which will convert this tournament into a major date on the calendar, followed by more than 2000 people in the stands and broadcast by streaming.

All this rapid progress of the Copa Mapei, we owe it to a young entrepreneur, Diego Bossa. This lover of padel from a young age, bet on the padel year after year, always evolving more.

Lately the direct by streaming, the follow-up on the social networks, large led screens, the arrival of international players make that his vision of padel make it grow padel in Argentina and makes it become a little more professional every day.

For this second edition, you can go back and forth to Cordoba in Argentina to follow the Copa Mapei on January 11th. Big atmosphere guaranteed!
