Paquito Navarro is on a good dynamic alongside his teammate Lucas BergaminiHe spoke to the microphone of PadelReview on this association with the Brazilian, a pair which has been gaining momentum in recent weeks.

A rivalry with “Los Mágicos”

Argentines Tolito Aguirre et Gonzalo Alfonso saw the birth of a rivalry with the world's 7th pair, Bergamini / Navarro, since their confrontation at Miami P1A close match in three sets, played for 2 hours and 33 minutes, won by Bergamini et NAVARRO in front of 30 spectators (YouTube channel), a record at this stage of the competition (round of 000). The rematch took place in Brussels, and again turned to the advantage of the favorites Navarro / Bergamini.

“These games always come down to details. So far, luck has been on our side, but hey, maybe next time it will be theirs.”

Out of the circuit A1 Padel as number 1, Aguirre / Alfonso decided to launch on the Premier Padel in 2025. Their start to the season is promising: two finals in Gijón et Cancún, but also several matches played against the best pairs in the world. Today, they occupy 5th place in the Race and assert themselves as one of the most formidable teams outside the top 8.

“For me, at least, it's one of the hardest. I know that every time we come up against them, it's going to be a battle, that we're going to suffer.”

During the match in Brussels, the Argentines even imitated the iconic celebration of NAVARRO, the famous guitar, in a crucial moment:

“No, the guitar is part of my playing, it's an extension of myself. As long as I'm playing it, I'm on fire, I'm on fire. The day I stop playing it... worry.”

Alchemy with Lucas Bergamini

This association began in 2025. At the end of last season, NAVARRO played with paul cardona, While Bergamini was alongside Javi GarridoTogether, they now form the 7th pair in the world and seem very complementary, both in terms of play and character.

“The best thing about Lucas is his absolute calm. He gives me that serenity, which I don't always have. He's a pleasure to play with. He always guarantees you 7 or 8 points per game, no matter the conditions. He's the kind of right-footed player who makes all left-footed players better.”

Known for his intense character, NAVARRO knows that cohabiting with him on the track is not always easy:

“When we decided to play together, I warned him that I was a bit of a 'special' guy, with an intense personality, and that he was going to have to put up with me, for better or for worse. And he said to me: 'Listen, Paco, I know exactly who I'm signing up with. I'm going to give it my all, and you do what you have to do to be at the top.'”

The behavior of NAVARRO, sometimes criticized, was notably visible this season during the Miami P1 where he showed his annoyance, including towards his partner, in the very tense match against The Magicians.

“If he didn't have to deal with the pressure, the intensity, the whirlwind that I am on the court, I assure you we wouldn't even do half of what we do. So all the credit goes to him.”

A positive dynamic

But the pair Bergamini / Navarro gains strength as the season progresses. After two defeats in the round of 16 at Riyadh and Santiago, facing a duo Libaak / Tello In great form, the duo then reached two semi-finals in Premier Padel visit us at the Qatar Major then the Brussels P2.

“And look, I think we complement each other very well. We play good padel, we know our position, we know what we're worth and how far we can go. What we wanted was to be a very competitive pair, and I think we're getting there, clearly thanks to Lucas.”

The duo notably scored two notable victories against top 8 pairs, including Yanguas / Nieto in Brussels P2, undefeated until then in the quarter-finals and against lower-ranked teams.

“We knew we were doing things right, that we were training well, that we complemented each other really well. And if we stayed united and strong, the results would eventually come, and that's what's happening.”
