Between theatre and padel, there are sometimes… no boundaries.  To promote their new play, Maxime Gasteuil and Camille Combal decided to trade the stage for a padel court. And clearly, the connection between a well-placed retort and a winning volley is more obvious than it seems.

 A rehearsal unlike any other

In a video that has already become a cult classic, the two comedians dive into the middle of a "rehearsal" of their play. the letter…rackets in hand. “Hi everyone and welcome to rehearsals,” they say, before transforming into fake Eric and Ramzy for a few seconds. Relaxed atmosphere.

The parallel is quickly acknowledged:
"Padel, like theatre, is about rhythm, delivery, and physicality."
Translation: If you know how to climb the net, you can also climb the stage. Provided you don't mistake a tirade for Cyrano with a poorly executed smash.

A play… that is performed by four people (as if by chance).

The pitch of the letter Five childhood friends, one missing person, a letter, and twenty years of secrets. But above all… four characters gathered around a table.
Like on a padel court.  Coincidence? We don't think so.

"Theatre is simple: you're at the back of the court, you wait for your line and you go up to the net," summarizes Combal, probably ready to revolutionize the Conservatory.

Between improvisation, slips of the tongue… and botched spoilers

The problem with this type of rehearsal is that everything quickly goes off the rails. Between risky revelations ("He's dead!"), absurd theories ("It's a road accident, for sure!") and attempts to maintain suspense, the two actors mainly make you want to come and see for yourself.

Special mention goes to the vocal warm-up sequence, where the famous tongue twisters become almost more complicated than a tie-break under pressure.

Objective: to be ready for the Casino de Paris

Behind the joke, there is still a serious objective: to be in top form for the stage at the Casino de Paris in December 2026, before a tour.
And clearly, padel has become their official form of physical training.
Endurance, reflexes, pressure management… all that’s missing is the referee to announce the scene changes.

A comedy that blends laughter and settling of scores.

the letter promises a  sensitive comedy Amidst fits of laughter, secrets revealed, and friendships tested, a dinner that spirals out of control, unspoken words that explode… and one central question:
Do you really have to tell your friends everything?

On the track as on stage, one thing is certain: with Gasteuil and Combal, you'd better be ready for anything. Even missing a few shots... or a few lines.
