Gilles Moretton's team promised it: the padel hate his own license. The FFT has been working on this theme for several months now. Where are we ? What are the next deadlines?

Elements to take in the conditional. We will try to take up all the elements that have already been discussed.

The objectives of creating a 100% license padel

  • Recognition

Offer to padel its license to distinguish it from other sports offered by the FFT. On paper, the reasoning seems obvious: the padel is a sport like any other and as such it deserves to have its own license.

  • Census

How many licensees actually play padel ? A question that we find it difficult to answer precisely.

This is, moreover, a problem encountered by many other countries, starting with Spain for other institutional reasons which we will not discuss here.

Today a player from padel official must have completed at least one tournament padel approved for the last 12 months. Which gives us around 15.000 ladies and gentlemen competitors.

How many people are playing padel without ever making approved tournaments? Certainly a lot more than players of padel in competition mode.

Today, it is therefore estimated that there would be around 100.000 practitioners in France.

  • Possible economic lever for FFT

Licenses padel can also be a source of income for FFT. She promised she would stay reasonable, but for a player who plays tennis, padel and beach, a single license will certainly cost less. It is clear that the debate will focus largely on this theme in the months to come.

The conditions of the single license

The FFT has already made progress on this single license. But beware, nothing is validated yet and many things can still evolve.

To date, here is what has emerged:

  1. Le padel should have its unique license
  2. There would be a tripartite Club, Federation and League retrocession (editor's note. A point that had already been addressed previously by the FFT. For the moment nothing has yet been validated. And we can expect changes at this level the)
  3. The License would only be issued by clubs owning golf courses. padel
  4. Only licensees Padel could participate in tournaments padel approved

More generally, if we do not yet have this famous single license dedicated to padel, the FFT is working and trying to address all the technical points to offer it to us in 2022.
